Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a disruption in the normal function of the brain caused by a sudden blunt force trauma, such as a blow or jolt to the head. It can be acquired through various incidents, including falls, road traffic accidents, sports injuries, or assaults. TBIs range in severity from mild to severe, with varying symptoms at each severity level leading to short-term or life-altering changes.
TBIs can present with long-term alterations and impairments to the brain’s network, translating to difficulties experienced by clients, including cognitive, behavioural and emotional dysregulation, resulting in complex and challenging behaviours.
To support clients with these challenges, neurorehabilitation and neurobehavioural support are centred around providing effective strategies to compensate for the loss of function, rewiring the plastic brain and its behaviours, empowering autonomy to live a fulfilled life, and minimising the difficulties experienced in TBIs.

Our Services
We provide qualified rehabilitation and therapy assistants supervised under our resident clinical leads to ensure our clients are treated with the best care and provided with optimal support. In conjunction with each case’s MDT, Neuspec provides additional support through collaborative and integrative approaches with case management to enforce the treatment and case goals.
Neuspec ethos and clinical experience have been structured based on field experiences with years of practice, supporting clients in complex cases through their litigation and neurorehabilitation journeys. Our experience provides an in-depth understanding of the requirements needed to cultivate a therapeutic environment and augment specialised rehabilitation plans developed by treating clinicians. Rehabilitation plans are only as good as the implementers, and Neuspec prides itself in implementing multiplex transdisciplinary rehabilitation plans.
We work closely with staff to ensure they have the appropriate skills for each case. We assign case-specific training to fulfil the skills and knowledge required for the complexities of each case, ensuring our staff appreciate the dynamics of the support required and the client’s goals. At Neuspec, we value the need for our practice to be academically and practically informed. We create individualised onboarding packages for each case and develop them for the client profile.
- Wrap-around support packages for clients requiring high levels of support around the clock to achieve their goals, promoting autonomy.
- Independent living trial support packages that enforce and enable individuality, confidence-building, and self-adaptive techniques for clients transitioning into independent living. Neuspec’s field expertise recognises the challenges associated with independent living and optimises the support required for clients, scaffolding their independence.
- We provide psychological and emotional support to clients challenged with emotional dysregulation and mental health pathologies. We help clients understand and regulate their emotions and interactions with their social environments, which are affected by their behavioural interactions and encounters.
- Neurobehavioural support and mentoring to equip clients with neuro and psychoeducation on how their brain interplays with their behaviour, emotion, and learning process. Neuspec provides clients with strategies for behavioural modification and helps them display positive, pro-social, and socially appropriate behaviours.
- Cognitive rehabilitation to aid clients in regaining or strengthening skills, learning new strategies, and managing daily life responsibilities. We support rehabilitation plans centred around recompensating executive functions such as skills for planning, organisation, concentration, attention, motivation and decision-making. The goal is to improve quality of life, independence, and the ability to return to work and meaningful life engagements.

Once the support package is agreed upon and the contract is signed, we begin service with the support of our expert team.
